Sat up at 5 months
Oh Maryanne - we sure love having you around. Every time we make eye contact with you - you turn yourself inside out with a smile that just makes everyone's day. Daddy comes home from work and goes straight to you to get his Maryanne smiles. oh and you are totally HUGE. You have these adorable chunky thighs that I squeeze all day (hope that's ok). You are almost 20 lbs!! Lucy is 30 and Luke is just over 40. But you feel the heaviest! Because you are just dense little ball to carry around. 6 mo height - 27.5 inches (90-95%) and weight 19 lbs 12 oz. (96%) You still don't sleep through the night and that makes us tired. You did for a little while but you are back to your old ways. You also are a tricky one to feed solids to. You are new at it so we will cut you some slack. You seem to want food but when the spoon gets to your mouth you keep it closed and stick your tongue out. Then, it seems like you try to eat it by sliding your tongue back in your closed mouth... which just makes all the food slide onto your face. Weird. But you have other good qualities.
We couldn't love you more. Luke offers you any and all of his toys (which if you knew how much he loves toys, you would understand how much he loves you) Lucy sings to you every night and is very, very good at silly faces and sounds to make you smile. Every time your dad sees you he can't seem to get over what a precious angel you are. I love your dimples and your pterodactyl squeals. You are such a bright spot in our family. Good job and keep it up.

She looks like Luke in that profile shot on the beach and I see Jenny's eyes in that Johnny-jump-up picture. You guys live really far away. Whoever gave you the crazy idea to live in Memphis should be shot.
is that poop picture what happens when she turns herself inside out with smiles? so glad you included that though, you are so real. and so fun and funny. luck maryanne to have you for a mom. lucky us to have maryanne for our maryanne.
I also like Maryanne. A lot. I remember we used to call Lucy Smiley Cyrus, but I can't imagine that Lucy smiled any more than Maryanne does. Any suggestions for another smiley nickname we could use for Maryanne?

Wowsers! Almost 20 pounds! I haven't had Ethan's official 6-month visit yet, but just using our scale he's only 17. He has a similar relationship with solid foods. I think he likes them, but he doesn't like being spoon fed. He's a big fan of graham crackers, though. And he's only "sleeping through the night" if you use the 6-8 hour definition. We put him down at 7:30 and he wakes once somewhere between 3:30 and 5 to eat before going back to sleep. We've also had several occasions of yucky back smearage like that--always after he's been in the Johnny Jump-up. There's just something about it...
Ew, poo poo. Otherwise, she seems great. It looks like she's doing okay for not really getting the food in her mouth. I like her happy face!
