Pie

A few months ago Joey proudly reported that he sings Luke his "favorite song". I begged to differ. It was the Primary song Pioneer Children. But I sing WAY cooler songs like Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and Itsy Bitsy Spider and Popcorn Popping- those are his true favorites I'm sure. But Joey was firm and argued that Luke's eyes just lit up whenever he sang it.

So, one night I was putting Luke to bed and he looked up at me and said, "Pie?"
I didn't understand. "Pie?.... Um... Oh... Spie? Spider? You want Itsy Bitsy Spider?"
"No, PIE! Pie??"
And then I realized it, oh no! I reluctantly said, "PIE-oneer Children? Is that what you want?"
Sure enough - his eyes lit up. I started singing it and he was so happy! But he interrupted me half-way through and said, "Daddy?"
So hurt. Whatever Luke! "You want Daddy to sing it?" Again, his eyes twinkled yes. So, I swallowed my pride and went to tell Joey not only that he was right but that he was getting requests. Of course, he LOVED that. :-)

So, it's now a family favorite and is requested most every night. Just within the last few days, Luke started singing along. He does a really good job. This is today before his nap:

Cousins, Cousins and MORE Cousins

Luke has an especially large amount of cousins.
On Joey's side - he's got 42. + 1 very special first cousin once removed.
On my side - he's got 14.
5 of those are actually double cousins that sneak in on both sides (my brother married Joey's sister ya see.)

So - in Utah Luke was able to see all his cousins. A rare occasion indeed. I think he only missed out on seeing 4 of his 52 cousins. Katie (CA), Jon (Brazil), Maggie & Eliza (Venezuela) And I guess his 4 Memphis cousins weren't in Utah but we'll count them since he gets to see them all the time.

Cousin trivia -

There has been a baby born into the Hale family every year for 21 years. Luckily we'll be doing our part not break the baby streak in 2010.

In the Songer family each family has a different number of kids. The 6 families have 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 and 0 kids equalling 15. But I'm afraid we will be breaking that up by turning our one to two in January.

I love our huge-mungus families!!
