Just for funzies

So - we sort of just bought a house. Well, not even sort of. Feeling a little crazy but hopefully it will be a good thing. We thought it would be an exciting project for us. Take a gander y'all.

BEFORE

AFTER

Check out the roof!! We just had the algae cleaned off and it looks like a new roof. And then of course painted the outside (painters, mind you, not us) It just got finished today! We'll post more pictures of the inside later. Oh yeah, and our awesome, totally radical, super coolio friends are going to live there and make it all the better. We're excited for them to live by us too!

Bad day

Made a goal to wake up early - didn't
Tried to read scriptures - couldn't find them
Dealt with Anthony from Blue Cross Blue Shield for an hour trying to convince him to reinstate our health insurance
Wanted to do swim work out - couldn't find goggles or swim cap or conditioner
Swam anyway - felt like I was drowning, swam it 2 and 1/2 minutes slower than usual.
Met friends at Costco for lunch (this one's a doozie) - Luke was a maniac. I cut up pizza for him, blew on each piece to cool it, handed them to him and he threw them on the ground. He wiped grease all over my pants and shirt. When I was picking up pizza off the ground - he sprinted for the door and made it all the way OUTSIDE of Costco. I sprinted after him. He threw a tantrum at having to come back. My two friends (each with THREE children of their own - all six were behaving so nicely) looked at me sympathetically as I struggled with my ONE child. Then all of the sudden he made a triumphant arch of the back and head butted me right in the mouth. Blood everywhere. All over my shirt, all over my mouth. My friend took my screaming child (as hers sat quietly looking on) as I cleaned up the blood. Walked away with a fat lip and a sad sad Luke.
Driving away feeling sorry for myself - all the sudden my contact slid off my eye and I can't see ANYTHING. (for those of you who don't know, I'm blind in my right eye so only wear a contact in my almost blind left.) I panicked! I had to get off the road immediately. I hugged the right side of the road going very slow as I tried to make out a some blurs to be a parking lot entrance. Found one, restored contact, drove away feeling even more sorry for myself.
Night came - made dinner - burned dinner. I left for a few minutes and thought I could make it back in time. Walked in to a smoke-filled house. Felt like a dork for being so dumb. Made dinner again. Didn't have the ingredients I needed. Dinner wasn't that good.

I just want to go to bed now so nothing else can happen.

Anpanman!!!!

Yeah, these are some of Japan's finest superheros - the guy with toast for a head, a curry bread man and best of all - the SWEET BREAD MAN!!! His head is a bun with sweet bean paste inside. His weakness is water or anything that makes his head dirty. The villain is Baikinman or "Germ Man" whose weakness is soap and wants to turn the world into Germ World. Kids watch these cartoons all day and they are a real hit in Japan. So, Ethan (the boy I tutor in Japanese) had a birthday on Friday. I made him an Anpanman cake. I think he was pretty excited about it.

PS - my favorite is actually melonpanna chan. She is so cute. And I LOVE MELON PAN!!! Has anyone eaten it? Oh yum. Here's a picture that she is in. She is the one with the yellow head and green clothes

Could it be? Is this ... affection?

What happened? The baby who has always pushed us away and who seems relieved when we leave the room is missing. In his place is this new kid who is all about hugs and slobbery kisses. He can't seem to get enough. Maybe he's making up for lost time.

Well, thank you kindly

My dear mother sent us an easter package today and thereby added a new musical intrument to Luke's world. I've gotta say - I'm pretty impressed.

THANKS MOM!!!

While I'm at it - let me just post this cute video of Luke and his friend Aiden this morning at their Wednesday morning play date.

Every story has a beginning...

Joey and Katie first met in Mr. Hawkes 3rd grade class at Valley Elementary. They became good friends in Jr. High and best friends in High School. Katie wrote to Joey on his mission in Tiajuana and Joey wrote to Katie later on her mission in Tokyo. Years later at the ripe old age of 25, these best friends finally fell in love... or maybe just realized they were already in love. They got married on January 22, 2004.

happy kids
