You know you're busy when...

you find this in your sink under a pile of dishes ...

a flourishing lentil plant ... I know, we are gross.

Our lives have been utter chaos these past few weeks. We had 2 races - first the race to get our house rent-ready for the Austins who moved in on the 18th and second, an actual race - the Memphis in May Triathlon on Saturday the 16th.

#1 - Tiling the kitchen, bathroom, hall and laundryroom. This was a killer project. Or maybe we are just getting old.

This huge fridge was the bane of our existence - we had to take off doors of our house and ended up taking off the doors of our fridge and dented it and scraped the walls - oh it was a lovely evening, let me tell you.

#2
The Triathlon went great. JOEY WON 3RD PLACE in his age division!!! I was so proud of him. He got champion towel. I'm sure a much coveted towel among Memphis in May triathloners. I ended up 4th in my age division. That dang girl in turquoise - I was trying to keep up with her and pass her the whole race. She beat me by 1 minute and she got 3rd. Rrrrrr. But we did it! It was a 1/3 mile swim, 10 mile mountain bike ride (that ended up being riding on grass and was ridiculously hard and just lame) and a 3 mile trail run.

JOSEPH HALE :
SWIM: 13:39, BIKE: 46:07, RUN: 25:41 TOTAL TIME: 1:28:34
KATIE HALE:
SWIM: 18:59, BIKE: 54:01, RUN: 29:38 TOTAL TIME: 1:45:29

the ceremonial markering :-) GO NUMBER 118!!

ahhh, finishing

Our awesome friends Aaron and Lezlie Terry

and what has Luke been doing?

the swim season has officially started at the Cresaps! So, lots of sunshine and cousins for Luke.

living in his parents' chaos while we try to live out of two houses

visiting Memphis in May worldwide barbeque festival.

Joey found a frog outside for Luke. He loved it!!

Sounds like you guys have been busy! Good job on the triathalon! You guys are awesome. I can't believe how old Luke looks. They grow up so fast. That is so fun that the Austins are going to be by you guys and the house looks like it is really coming along.

congrats on both of the races! The house sounds like a lot of work, but looks likes it's gonna pay off! And awesome job on the triathlon! I've been thinking about trying one sometime since I love swimming and have been running a lot (I just have to get good on the bike!). I ran the baltimore 1/2 marathon last october, and will run the baltimore 10 miler next month with Ron. I'm excited to do the race together. Way to give me extra motivation to look into triathlons though! Congrats!!

I just want to add to what Katie said about the "mountain bike" portion of the triathlon. It was ten miles of tall, soggy grass. It was such a slow, boring trudge. A portion of the run and bike courses overlapped and runners were passing bikers. It was so wrong.

Ok, so I knew *sort of* that you were living out of your other house, and I also knew that you were training and doing that race...BUT...you never seem out of sorts when I talk to you. I basically forgot how chaotic your world has been...AND...with how awesome you are in YWs and put-togetherish with your calling, it makes me realize just how AMAZING you are. So, yeah, you are amazing.

Lots of fun stuff.
(But of course my favorite thing was the lentil plant)

You guys are way too cool for me. I'm trying to catch up. I've been wogging 5Ks. Hoping to turn that wog into a jog into a run. I love that lentil plant! (You're really just showing off that you ate a lentil, though, right?) Congrats on the new rental house project, too. Come home soon, okay?

I just LOVE that Joey brought a live frog inside to your bathtub for Luke to see! (did you love it to??)

Wow you guys make me tired just reading about all your strenuous racing. Way to be healthy!

Oh, my sides! I'm so glad to see that someone else chooses to neglect dishes when life gets hectic. This whole week I've been saying, "I'll get to those dishes tonight..." but then something else comes up, as it always does. They're still there, waiting for me. I'll do them tonight, right?

That lentil looks seriously alien. My kids thought it was cool.
And you guys are regular runner beans.

Okay.

1. Nice work on the triathlon. I didn't realize you got 4th Katie. You guys rock ya little athletes!

2. Nice job on surviving the fridge installment. YIKES.

3. Joey is great at catching frogs. Oh, yes.

Every story has a beginning...

Joey and Katie first met in Mr. Hawkes 3rd grade class at Valley Elementary. They became good friends in Jr. High and best friends in High School. Katie wrote to Joey on his mission in Tiajuana and Joey wrote to Katie later on her mission in Tokyo. Years later at the ripe old age of 25, these best friends finally fell in love... or maybe just realized they were already in love. They got married on January 22, 2004.

happy kids
