the wilsons are here!

"the cousins" is a new and beautiful phrase that is spoken with squeals of delight in our home. Every day Luke and Lucy (especially Lucy) wake up wanting to play with "the cousins".  Said cousins are four adorable, endearing little girls who just happen to live a few blocks away!!  The Wilsons - Joey's little sister and fam - just moved into our very same neighborhood and let me just tell you that it is truly magical.   There really is something special about family - it's true what they say I guess.  The slow Sunday evenings, just relaxing and talking and kids eating ice cream cones and playing.  It's the life.

Ok so this video may be totally boring to you but I want to try to remember how cute it was to me watching my kids bond with their "new" cousins.   So the first part of this video is just a Sunday evening - hanging out in our backyard.  They are pretending it's Lucy's birthday, Olivia makes her a sand cake and helps her eat it and Jane makes her a birthday bed to sleep in.  Parts I love:  Olivia's whispered birthday wish (can't hear it but I love that she does it), Malan announcing Caleb's disc golf putts and docking him points (oh, and her giving up her chair to Luke without saying a word), Jane (spunky darling Jane) directing who gets to sleep in what birthday bed and Luke quietly singing the Darth Maul opera soundtrack as he plays with his double light saber.   Then there is another day splashing the water in the Wilson backyard (a few days after they moved in) And (6/26) Maryanne loving her Aunt Kate so much that she does her very first batch of giggles.

That was the most delightful visit! Great video! How did you keep it so steady? Great sound too. Of course the casting was celestial.

Olivia and Lucy look like besties. So fun, way to incorporate LOTS of water. That is an amazing water slide. So fun. We are missing out. And really missing our house right now.

Super cute last picture with Lucy and Olivia. And hooray for giggling babies!

Every story has a beginning...

Joey and Katie first met in Mr. Hawkes 3rd grade class at Valley Elementary. They became good friends in Jr. High and best friends in High School. Katie wrote to Joey on his mission in Tiajuana and Joey wrote to Katie later on her mission in Tokyo. Years later at the ripe old age of 25, these best friends finally fell in love... or maybe just realized they were already in love. They got married on January 22, 2004.

happy kids
