Christmas in Utah

Oh... Christmas. It was awesome. We realized we love our families. That is a good thing to realize I guess. We had a really cool Christmas Eve Eve with my family and a special Christmas Eve with Joey's family. Singing Christmas carols with my siblings and listening to the Hales perform the classic Hale skits were my favorite moments. These two families we belong to are so amazing. We are just in awe of the amount of coolness going on. We want to live closer so some of it will rub off on us. (I don't have pictures of these special evenings but my mom does here and here and I think victoria does. Vick?)

Christmas morning...

The Hale traditional Jingle Bell march

Opening presents. DJ, Wingo, Snotrod and Boost (from Cars). They are now part of the family. Luke had two in each hand at all times. Tragedy struck when Boost was lost at G&G's house. But we remember him and still talk of him often.

Santa Baby

The Songer Traditional Christmas morning omelets.

Later on Christmas...

we visited the Macdonald family... whom we love so dearly.

(don't mind Joey's weird head. He's just all about the jokes.)

It was so good to see my Maryanne & Bradley again.

And now they have a Gabe and a baby Luke!!

and Dave and Liz are just the same funny ones as ever. This is a special cheesecake they made us.

love these dudes.

Senior Cotillion...

So, this totally felt like a high school dance date. It was an all day triple date with our high school friends and their wives. We went to lunch, Speed Street go cart racing and then did dinner and games.

Here's our couple dance picture in our racing gear.

and group picture

(totally nerdy that Jake and I are doing the same thing as each other. I guess nerds trying to be cool think alike)

Dabois.

Joey and Ricky Bobby doing the Shake & Bake

Ready to race. Joey & Jared. And #35 Becca. I think Joey won out of the 6 of us. You can see the fierce look of competition in his eyes.

A lunch with friends. These are actually more my sister's friends from high school. But just like old times, I was allowed to tag-a-long. These girls are super cool. I feel like they are all changing the world and doing amazing things. We missed Victoria and Mike. Who would actually have been on our triple date too, if they weren't partying in Vegas.

Sara, Heather, half an April, Star and Merrin. Hailey & Jenny were also there.

Hickey Bobbing

(To be pulled on a sled with a rope behind a vehicle in the snow or ice.)

The Harrises took Luke hickey bobbing (some call it hooky bobbing?) behind their Excursion. He liked it but didn't like snow in his face. So he didn't last very long. He had more fun playing in the snow with his cousins afterward.

Holding on to the ski rope. In sled with Rachel and Megan.

Shoveling at Grandpa's

Megan and Andrew

My yittle sister and I went Snowboarding at Snowbasin. And it was funny because I didn't have snow clothes, so we met at my parents' house and got ready and borrowed all my mom's warm clothes. We felt like we were little kids again with my mom helping us to get ready to go out in the snow and taking pictures of us before we left. We had a blast. (Before I started throwing up. flu?) But we got a lot of good runs in. And mostly I just loved being with Serber. She is the best.

So, that is the end. We left Utah on New Year's Day. New Year's Eve was less than great as I threw up all night in the back room while I heard the festivities of my fun family going on without me. But I hear it was great. Planned by my ever so organized sister Emily.

Okay...who are the city slicks calling it Hicky Bobbing??? Sounds like something you would do on a date with a boy you didn't like....

That would be Hookie Bobbing. Sheesh.

LOVE YOU!

And thanks for the loan of Joey and Steve and Rex...They saved us!

Seeing you guys was definitely one of the highlights of Christmas. As was Songers New Years Eve. Don't feel too bad, I missed a lot of it because Trace did not want to cooperate.

1. I am a city slicker, and even I know it is "hookie." I think you must be thinking of something else. Although, to be fair, I understand that both involve bruising.

2. Victoria is going to love the shout out.

3. I am sad that I missed the races. and

4. We are firmly in the "Joey and Katie should be closer to family" camp.

ps. Speaking of which, my word verification is "neerof" as in, "the Songer-Hales should be neerof their friends in Utah," and "it would be nice to have you neerof us." Fate!

dudes, i think it can be called both hickey bobbing and hooky bobbing right? i don't know. i always called it that when i was little. but when i got old enough to know what a hicky was - i did feel a little sheepish saying it. but old habits die hard i guess.

ok.....so you were in Utah and you didnt tell me? I DID appreciate the card, but come on- you could have hand delivered that puppy!!Maybe next year eh? I dont ever go down that way, but for you and those cute kids- may be Joey too- I would go down for the day.:)Love you guys and love seeing pics of your perfect example of a mother and your amazing dad. dont forget Sar that I totally love and adore!!

Every story has a beginning...

Joey and Katie first met in Mr. Hawkes 3rd grade class at Valley Elementary. They became good friends in Jr. High and best friends in High School. Katie wrote to Joey on his mission in Tiajuana and Joey wrote to Katie later on her mission in Tokyo. Years later at the ripe old age of 25, these best friends finally fell in love... or maybe just realized they were already in love. They got married on January 22, 2004.

happy kids
