Things Luke says:
"I wanna hold you" - means I want you to hold me
"Here ya go. Here ya go!" - using his high "nice voice". when he's in trouble for not sharing or he knows he has something that belongs to mommy or daddy.
"HEWO!" - loves opening and closing doors & poking his head out at us and with his most enthusiastic voice yells "HEWO!"
"Bob da bidda" - Bob the Builder
" I love you! "
"ni Night!"
"a morneen!" - good morning.
He's been pretending a lot lately and loves to pretend to go to sleep and for us to sleep too and then wake us all up with "a morneen!". He also loves to pretend to be a baby and get swaddled and do his fake baby cry "whah, whah!"
Lately I haven't been very good about taking pictures for some reason but here are a few from the last few months.
he likes to keep our sidewalk looking nice. we're so lucky to have him.
one of Luke's favorites: soupy (smoothie). He gets out the blender and says "daddy? soupy?" (dad is the smoothie maker around here) That is his very, very little cup
every boy needs a good stick
romping. i was pretty impressed with his hiking skills. ran straight up hills dodging tree roots and branches.
looking for frogs.

BFF Aiden
Favorite Things:
Pixar movie CARS
Singing songs
Outside, "walk", "stroller"
"catch" - throwing the ball around
Thomas the Train
Aiden. "I want Aiden!", also Trace and Graham.
The train at the zoo
"cookies" (graham crackers), "applesauce" (always in a whisper), yogurt, "cereal" and nanas.
Airplanes, Cars, Tractors, Trucks, Trains, Helicopters etc. He has us read him his "Big Truck Book" and "100 Trucks" every night.
He has a CARS book that he can read TO US from memory!!! Old Truck, New Car, Red Truck, Blue Car, Shiny and Bright etc., etc. It's so cool!
So, here's a video of a rainy day (we've had A LOT of those lately) and some attempts at capturing some of Luke singing. It's so hard at this age. I will just have to remember so many of the things he does in my head. (like he really can sing songs like a champ just not so much when we pull the camera out)
As for an update on Joey and me - Joey got a sweet new mountain bike that he lovingly visits every night in the garage and has yet to ride because of all the rain and mud. The night before the bike arrived, I found him organizing and sweeping out the garage. I asked him what suddenly motivated him to get the garage so clean and he said "I'm nesting for my new arrival". I think he's funny.
Me - I'm almost 26 weeks pregnant and getting bigger. It's a good stage of pregnancy though because I feel good, not too huge yet and I feel the baby move around all the time. I've been going to step aerobics twice a week to help myself keep energized and try to make up for the crazy amounts of food I'm eating. My due date is January 28th so I have a little over 3 months left.
Oh! And Joey's sister Jenny came for a visit! She got some dental work done and then we did the Mud Island River Park (the Mississippi River replica) and took some paddle boats out on the "Gulf of Mexico". Jenny is Joey's oldest sister who is a professor at BYU and has written books and been and TV for being smart. So, she's pretty cool. We had fun cooking for her, feeding her Fat Larry's greasy southern BBQ and staying up late talking.
Joey and his cute sisters - Sarah and Jenny. (incidentally, I also have sisters named Sarah and Jenny.)

Oh!!!!!!!!!!!!! The darling little kid! I love the picture of him holding the "very little" cup. His eyes, his skin, his lashes...he is so handsome!!!!! I loved hearing about the new things he is doing. It makes me feel like I know him still...a little. How sad that you guys live so far away. I would make you smoothies, Luke!!! Oh, this was a fun one to read. Thanks for cheering up the day, Kate!
I just love you guys. Every time I read an update I get sad that we didn't go to Tennessee. You are so fun. Glad to hear the pregnancy is going well. Keep up the good work. :)
I love that little guy! (Too bad he screams like a girl in the rain, though.) Just kidding!! You know I think he's the world's most perfect baby! So, I keep thinking a lot about Memphis and how we should see what it's like. Sure do miss you guys!
oh, i love him! he makes me laugh so hard! i loved the screaming in the rain and the counting and the tiny cup. my girls love them some tiny cups too. joey is so funny about his mountain bikes. you know "clementine" waited for him on his mission, right? want to see a picture of your tum tum!
Oh that was such a treat, words and pictures and all. Lub frub your in-laws
Luke is such a treat. The littlecup looked like a perscription bottle so I was worried for a minute!:) It looks life is full of good times for you guys. I am so excited for you to have another baby!! Yipeeee....Come visit soon.
Love ya!
He is so Cute!!! I love all the words. My little ones used to say "I wanna hold you" too. :-) I wonder why that happens? Looks like a fun, busy delightful little man
Very cute little munchkin.
I think it's funny about Joey getting the nesting instinct. I think when you guys move here Joey and Rex should get together for bike "playgroups".
Oh, and by the way, your sidewalk does look very well-mowed. Way to go Luke!
My favorite part was Joey asking Luke if he was using his church voice and Luke immediately screaming "8-9-10!!" Great to get your update. Love that second trimester - though you're almost in your 3rd? A wee Songer-Hale girl, can't wait. We'll see you in November!
Luke is so smart! We like having him around!
you've been gone forever! luke is a brainiac! please read your email!
OMW (Oh My Word :D) his little conductor picture looks soooo much like Tanner. What a cutie pie! Loved the "I'm nesting..."
We better get some cavities and come see you!
Good job recording things! Keep it up. I think my most treasured family possession is our book of 'sayings'--funny things we said and did when we were little.
My mom is short! Look at her next to her siblings!
P.S. Thanks, Joey, for helping her teeth feel better.
