walking in memphis...
Remember Luke's squnchy face? Well, he took it to a whole new level for Grandpa. And Grandpa laughed so hard that he basically did it every time he saw him.
So, the week was mostly just playing with Luke but we also ate some southern BBQ and joined crazed Elvis fans at Graceland. Joey's sister Juli drove all the way from Des Moines to spend time with us as well. Here are the 3 Hale siblings at Thanksgiving. Joey and his two sisters Sarah and Juli.
I just love these guys.
Oh, and the crowning event of the trip was "project safari room". My extremely productive parents always want a project to help us with on every visit. They are way too nice. So, we decided to work on Luke's room and make it a safari room. I asked my dad to paint a mural on the wall of a giraffe. This is his first ever giraffe and he even added a zebra pal for him. I seriously thought I couldn't be any more impressed with my dad than I already was - but what do you know. He never ceases to amaze me.

Yay I'm first!
Yes I know what you mean- it seems like the joy of kids is always doubled by seeing the joy that they bring your parents. It's like seeing the love come full circle.
Cool mural-your dad always impresses me too!
ohhhh so cute. how fun-and congrats on the little walker friend!
It was SO awesome to talk to you the other day! Sounds like you had a good Thanksgiving. Little Luke is a cutie!!! An I love the art your dad did in his room. Do you remember the portrait you got at the park in Kichijoji? Wow. Too bad you couldn't have that guy do some more murals in your house too!!!
WOW!! That is an amazing mural! I'm glad you got to spend some time with your parents.

That's what I'm talking about...some good ol' Songer/Hale family fun. Keep it coming, ya hear? Don't you think we should live together, like the old days? I'd give you Lagoon rides all day long!
ok - I am so impressed by your dad's mural. I love it!
I am happy you had such a great Thanksgiving and I can't believe little Luke is now a walker!
We miss you guys so much. Sniff Sniff.
OH MY GOODNESS!!! THAT PAINTING IS AWESOME!!! I love them, they are SO extremely cute! So glad you had a great holiday!!
Didn't I already post on this? Cause I've seen it three times! What a cute Lukey squinchy face. I'm so glad you've had so many family visitors. Mike thinks you'll want to stay there because of all the family you get to hang out with. Congrats on the first steps, Luke! You're so lucky to have Steve Songer to paint your walls.
That face is AWESOME. Don't you just love the funny stuff these munchkins do? Can I rent out your dad to paint my rooms? So cool.
I always knew your dad had more artistic talent in his little finger than I've got in my whole body but that is just so dang cute! And congrats on the baby steps!
The only thing better than loving your kids to death, is watching your parents adore them too. I'm glad we have the same parents because your parents are awesome!
Those first steps are so exciting....Until they use them to run away from you when you are chasing them around trying to get them to do the dishes ;)
Cutie-pie face. We can't wait to see you in person next week.
I LOVE the animals! We feel so grateful everytime we see the work he (and talented Jenny) did in our Fishing room. It's so nice to have Songer art all through our home!
Like everyone else has said, I LOVE THE MURALS! Especially because baby boy in my tummy is going to have a jungle safari themed room too. I want a giraffe on my wall! Glad you guys had fun. I think we get to see you in a couple weeks at the Wades house. Can't wait!
The Zebras Luke and your Dads the giraffe....lol, awe! first steps how fun...I cant believe your parents are grandparents....we are old arent we.
Your Dad can come paint in my house any time! Holy cuteness! Congratulations on first steps and an even cuter face than you had in MD, Luke! Such happy times make the best holiday experiences!

Hey Katie & Joey. This is the other (California)Joey/Katie Hill.
The song I think you are referring to is called "Small as Me" and its by a musician named Damien Jurado. It also features another musician named Rosie Thomas, but I found the song on iTunes under Damien Jurado. It's not on one of his albums, but its on a childrens album he was featured on.
Hope your family is well. Merry Christmas!
Thanks for the cute christmas card!
Hi Katie,
Sounds like you had a great time. I can't believe Luke is walking! Oh, he is so cute!
